Never before, in the long and distinguished history of the Tooth Fairy, through centuries of service to mankind, had a single fairy caused so much trouble.
Marguerite, daughter of Nemesia, Queen of the Fairies, was never one to play by the rules. Surly and resentful, she trained, as every tooth fairy should, in the art of weaving hope. Rewarding small humans for the gift of their very first teeth, not only enables the Queen to create fairy dust, it brings joy and hope to the children of mankind.
Yet Marguerite had other ideas. As the privileged daughter of the Queen, she was often in the company of the Elves, the secretive clan of ancient beings that rank amongst the most senior races of Others. Tied to the earth, Elves have plenty of reasons to be frustrated by mankind.
Aggrieved by her own position, Marguerite selfishly fanned the flames of rebellion amongst her friends. The fiery nature of the young elves soon turned from talk to action, leading them to disaster. With deadly consequences, the Elf rebellion was crushed throwing the Others into turmoil.
Her own crime against a human child was enough to have Marguerite arrested by the High Council, and cursed for the crime of Hubris.
The Queen’s curse turned Marguerite from tooth fairy into Granny Green Teeth. A legendary figure, she was sunk deeply into the minds of mankind by magic. Granny Green Teeth’s purpose was to encourage humans, especially the little ones, to remember to clean their teeth before they went to bed at night.
It worked extremely well, because she was very, very, good at it.
